FAQs

How long will it take to get started?

Our goal is to get you connected to the right provider as soon as possible.  Before that happens, there are a few steps to complete with intake to ensure the process is seamless.  You will be responsible for completing all documentation and consents in the Patient Portal, while our Intake team explores your insurance benefits or payment options.  Another key factor that will affect the timing of connection is your availability.  If you have a small window of availability, it will limit the providers available to see you at that specific time.

I don't have health insurance. How much will it cost?

Our core value is to ensure services are accessible.  If you are uninsured, we offer an affordable sliding scale discount based on your household income.  You’ll receive an application indicating the discounted rates by service and you will need to provide verification of your household income in the form of a tax document, recent pay sheet, or other relevant information.  Once this is received, you’ll be notified of your approval.

Can I receive psychiatric services if I am not in therapy?

Yes.  While many people are active in both services at the same time because the comprehensive approach can improve outcomes, it is not required.  We recommend speaking with your provider about the benefits of enhancing your treatment with one or more services.

Does GOC offer telehealth services?

Yes.  Most providers offer telehealth services.  It is important to discuss the advantages and disadvantages with your provider to determine if telehealth is right for you.

This is my first time in therapy. What can I expect?

First, you deserve credit for making this investment in yourself and your wellbeing!  Just as we are all unique people, the process of therapy is different for every individual.  Typically, the first few sessions are spent getting to know your feelings, experiences, goals, and expectations.  Together, you and your therapist will collaborate to create a treatment plan outlining your goals and objectives, and help you to identify issues to work on.  Your therapist will explain their approach, what techniques they will use, and their training, as well as the expected frequency, length, and duration of therapy.  You are encouraged to ask questions.

The more actively you participate in therapy, the more you will get out of it.

My child is struggling in school. What services can you offer to help?

In addition to therapy and skills-building groups, we also offer Psychological Testing and Assessment that can help identify the underlying cause of your child’s difficulty.  Frequently, assessments for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism spectrum disorder, and learning challenges will not only identify what’s happening, but also provide recommendations to improve outcomes to help your child succeed.
